Lynx Lake, an evening in June

Hiking around Lynx Lake in the evening during sunset is tranquil. Show up around 7:00, hike around, and watch the as the light fades. This hike is part of our summer tradition; I reccomend you make it yours too!

Beaver Creek and Plein Air Painting

Summer plus Saturday equals hiking and swimming. I added Plein Air painting to our typical hike to Beaver Creek with mixed results. Painting outdoors is tricky I am finding out. I will share my completed painting soon... Otherwise, it was a warm/hot day, perfect for cool swimming and relaxing in the sun.

Phippen Art Show 2012

My first ever Phippen Museum Western Art Show and Sale went really well! Everyone who stopped in to see my work had positive comments. Backing up... this show was juried and I was accepted/notified sometime in February. I wanted new paintings to show and completed 10 oils just for the show. I set up Friday night, May 25th, with the help of two nephews and a niece. Saturday morning was windy and cool, luckily my canopy stayed put. Even with the cold weather on Saturday, many people came downtown for the show. The Phippen show is known to be one of the best shows downtown and always attracts art-interested folk. The comments ranged from "beautiful," "peaceful," "love your colors," "distinct style," "love your frames," and (my favorite) "your art is the best I've seen in the entire show." Yep, got an ego boost! On top of it all, I sold 3 oil paintings!! I plan to do the show again next year (I already reserved a space). In the meantime, you can find my work at the Frame & I, 229 W. Gurley St, Prescott, AZ. (www.frameandi.com)
